Small Business Webcast

Free Continuing Education for Small Business

The Webcasts at http://smallbusinesswebcast.com will all cover subjects helpful to small business. That is pretty broad, however. What particular subjects would you like to see covered in a Webcast? What type of professionals should we target for Webcast Instructors?

That is a good suggestion Michelle. You owe B&O tax on the full amount paid by your client even if you sub that out to another company. If it's a Washington company, the state gets to collect the B&O tax from both of you. I also see people run into problems when they purchase items for their client. Even if you have no markup, you still owe B&O tax on the reimbursement. You can also run into problems if you have transactions between related companies. If Company A buys the product and distributes it to Companies B, C and D, Company A owes B&O tax for the "sales" to companies B, C and D even though they all have identical ownership. Companies B, C and D need to purchase directly from the vendor to avoid double taxation.

The ins and outs of the WA state B&O tax - specifically how it relates to a service company who subs out to another service company. This might be too specific, but could be part of a larger discussion around the B&O tax.

How to use Excel to build or forecast a revenue model on the fly and also with more time, for a formal research effort. I've tried to find a class on this and must not be looking in the right place. I have colleagues who know how but I'd like to spend more time learning so it is second nature to me. Obviously it is more than an Excel class, there is a business / revenue modeling element that I'm trying to get to - Excel is just a tool for display and calculation. Thanks
